Formed 20 years ago, Brainoil exemplifies what sludge and doom meant during its original creation —misanthropic, hateful, unrelenting and, without fail, totally and completely brutal. Formed by Greg Wilkinson, Brainoil has been a power trio for the bulk of its existence, adding Ira Harris and Nate Smith at the turn of the century before the band had even entered demo stages. Now in their second decade the band welcomes their third album overall and first in seven years, the grim and hateful Singularity to Extinction due via Tankcrimes on 10/19.

Brainoil Founder Greg Wilkinson offered his thoughts on "The Spectre's Vile Hand" by saying that it "...not only showcases our quickest and slowest tempos on this album, but to date. We worked really hard to add more diversity on this album while never abandoning our sound. 'The Spectre's Vile Hand' showcases a very different style than the previously released track 'Blank Static Void.'"
