Hear Brass Against's Triumphant Big-Band Cover of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs"

Political brass outfit take on ultimate anti-war anthem with soul singer Maya Azucena

Back with another amped-up, big-band rendition of a metal classic are Brass Against, the politically motivated music collective who enlist impressive guest vocalists for covers of well-known rock hits from artists like Tool, Audioslave and Pantera. This time around, the group takes on Black Sabbath anti-war anthem "War Pigs," an oft-covered standard from the metal forefathers' repertoire. New York City–based soul singer/songwriter Maya Azucena serves up the vocals. Her huge, powerhouse delivery stands strong against the heavy brass and percussion background of Brass Against, no small feat for one person among a room so densely packed with musicians. The song's iconic sparse interludes spotlight her flawless execution and the band's well-rehearsed, airtight musicianship.

The group has one live show left on U.S. soil this year, a December 11th performance at New York City venue Le Poisson Rouge, before taking a break for the rest of the year to prepare for a European/U.K. tour in early 2019.
