British rockers Bring Me the Horizon have released yet another version of their gushing love song "Mother Tongue," as well as a cover of English-born, New York-based artist ANOHNI's "Drone Bomb Me," for Spotify Sessions.
Led by a piano and stripped down from the original, "Mother Tongue" lets the spotlight focus on frontman Oli Sykes' smooth vocals with minimal accompaniment outside of some well-placed harmonizing and acoustic guitar. Keyboardist Jordan Fish told Kerrang! of the track, "Vocal-wise it's quite a big song ... It's probably as close as we get to something like 'Drown' on this album. It's a love song, so it's an emotional one."
The second offering, a suave electronic track that builds layers on layers of delicate sampled instrumentation, is quite loyal to the ANOHNI original (which you can hear below) but more rooted in a human sound. Dynamic swells and Sykes' emotional performance give the unique song a pop sensibility while maintaining the number's experimental edge.
Next up for BMTH is a handful of European festival dates and select U.S. appearances later this summer. Check out a full list of dates at this location.
