John LaMacchia sends off "a long relationship that kept dragging on"

Spearheaded by Candiria's John LaMacchia, the shape-shifting collective Spylacopa started out in 2008 as a side project between LaMacchia, Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato, ISIS bassist Jeff Caxide, and Made Out of Babies/Battle of Mice singer and solo artist Julie Christmas. The group's five-track 2015 self-titled EP both sounded very much like the sum of its impressive parts and also reached beyond its members' respective better-known endeavors.

Since then, LaMacchia has kept Spylacopa going, reconstituting it as a less metallic and even more experimental solo project as accessible to fans of Radiohead, Boards of Canada and Aphex Twin as it is to acolytes of the aforementioned groups. Today, LaMacchia has teamed with Revolver to unveil the latest chapter in Spylacopa's constant evolution: the new single "It's All Over Now" and its moody music video. Watch and listen above.

"I wrote this song several years ago at the end of a long relationship that kept dragging on," LaMacchia says of "It's All Over Now." "I'm glad the song is finally seeing the light of day. I must give a good amount of credit to vocalist Sabrina Ellie who sings harmony on the song. She really pushed me to get this song out and she also came up with the concept and style of the video, which I shot and edited myself. The editing process was quite an undertaking. I spent countless hours slicing tiny fragments of video so that the end result has a strobe-light effect. I should also mention the song was mixed by Mario Quintero of the band Spotlights. He brought out a heaviness in the song that I didn't know was there. It's the perfect fit in my humble opinion."
