Hear Cane Hill Take Left Turn With Dark New Semi-Acoustic Song "Kill the Sun"

Lead single off forthcoming 6-track record addresses self-sabotage, relishing misery

NOLA metal crew Cane Hill are best known for their mosh-pit–ready ragers, but as fans know, the group has what the band members described as a "weirder and mellower side." The quartet has fully embraced that facet of its collective personality on its forthcoming new record, Kill the Sun. The six-track release is due January 18th, 2019, and Cane Hill offered up a surprise taste from it today, in the form of its introspective title cut and lead single. Check it out above, along with its moody music video.

"We wanted our first single from this album to be as big of a curve ball as possible," singer Elijah Witt says of the song. "'Kill the Sun' is as far of a departure from our usual 'heavy-metal anthem' leadoff as we could get. Like, who knew Devin [Clark, Cane Hil drummer] could play the saxophone?! This track is about my constant self-sabotage, my tendency to find happiness and just as quickly finding a way to ruin it. There's a very loud voice in my head that feeds me to the wolves I created, effectively killing any light in my life. And deep down, there's a part of me that relishes in the misery."

Cane Hill are set to hit the road with Sevendust, starting in February (see tour dates here). Check out the track list for the new record below.
