Hear Deftones' Chino Moreno Cameo on Chilean Hip-Hop Group's Moody New Song

Deftones singer lends voice to Como Asesinar a Felipes' jazz-influenced single "Disparan (Fill the Skies)"

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno has teamed up with Chilean hip-hop outfit Como Asesinar a Felipes for a genre-bending, jazzy track titled "Disparan (Fill the Skies)." Though the group has been around for more than a decade, they've kept a low profile in the states despite finding a fan in Faith No More bassist Billy Gould. Gould passed the group's material onto Moreno, who recalls of his decision to become involved, "I received an email from Billy Gould with some songs from Como Asesinar a Felipes and immediately I was captivated by the sound of the band ... we were able to build what I believe is something very special and unique. I am very proud to have worked with such an incredible group from such an amazing country."

The track is a multifarious meld of smoky jazz saxophones, Stygian hip-hop beats and Moreno's low seductive vocals mingling with the Spanish raps of Como Asesinar a Felipes' leader Koala Contreras. Deftones fans can find satisfaction in Moreno's signature delivery, and the collaboration makes for a riveting listen that deviates from the singer's usual rock-oriented performance. The single is a standalone as of now, but keep up with Como Asesinar a Felipes' Facebook to find out more on future releases.
