Hear Deftones' Heavy New Song "Genesis"

Channeling serious 'Diamond Eyes' vibes

Back in October 2017, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno promised us that guitarist Stephen Carpenter — who was largely absent from the writing sessions for the group's last album, Gore — would be much more involved in the making of its follow-up. (Watch our interview below.) Now, that new LP, Ohms, is nearly upon us, and Carpenter's burly, metallic playing is all over its latest single, "Genesis." Featuring a massive roiling riff and dynamic sing-scream vocals, the cut undeniably channels the heavy vibes of Deftones' watershed 2010 LP, Diamond Eyes. Check it out above along with its psychedelic, black-and-white music video.

Ohms — which was notably produced by Terry Date, who also helmed 1995's Adrenaline, 1997's Around the Fur and 2000's White Pony — is due out on September 25th via Warner Records. (You can pre-order it now.) Deftones' 20th anniversary reissue of White Pony is expected soon, as well, along with a companion-piece remix album titled Black StallionRevolver recently celebrated the White Pony anniversary by putting Deftones on an array of collectible covers of our Summer 2020 Issue and creating a limited-edition deluxe box set featuring stunning original artwork by Richey Beckett (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Mastodon) and four exclusive covers — get yours before they're gone!
