DOG Power are a band that comes to us from Belgrade by way of New Zealand, harvesting a slithering, black-leather–clad style that definitely lives in the goth universe, but also on its own planet entirely. Shades of Iggy Pop's darker period, Suicide's proto-punk and even the Jesus and Mary Chain's gauzy blues are present, and the group's latest music video, for "Come Back To Paris," harks back to all of the above, as well. Anchored by the oversaturated image of vocalist Sam Perry, it moves with a chilly sexuality that's both threatening and seductive. The song is a Michael Mann film in itself, designed to play on your ride home with a lover, the city and its harsh reality fading behind you into the distance. "Come Back to Paris" is culled from DOG Power's self-titled debut mini-album, due on November 23nd via the venerable Flying Nun and available now for pre-order.
