Dying Fetus have been death metal mainstays for over two decades now, but within the last few years, they've experienced a notable resurgence among younger listeners who weren't around during their late Nineties come-up. Their unique sound has always straddled the line between extreme metal instrumentation and heavy hardcore chugginess, and right now they're extremely well-regarded by many of today's heavy-hitting hardcore acts — as well as their fair share of death metal and deathcore up-and-comers.
All that is to say is that there's even more reason to celebrate the band's first piece of new music in five years, a dizzying and monstrously heavy new song called "Compulsion for Cruelty." The track marks their first material since 2017's Wrong One to Fuck With LP, and it picks up right where the riff-tastic breakdown lords left off. Right now, there's no word on whether this will appear on an upcoming full-length. However, the band will be touring North America throughout September, and you can see those dates below.
