Hear Electronic Outfit the Anix's Reverent Cover of Deftones' "Digital Bath"

One-man project delivers fervent homage to moody alt-metal classic

The Anix is the one-man electronic-rock project of musician and visual artist Brandon Smith, who single-handedly wrote, produced, performed, mixed and mastered the forthcoming full-length Hologram, as well as creating all the album artwork, promo photography and merchandise. Among the LP's many original cuts sits a single cover song: of Deftones' White Pony standout "Digital Bath," a sultry yet ominous tune that means a lot to Smith.

"The style of this song defines almost every song that I've written as the Anix," he explains of "Digital Bath." "It's had a huge impact on me, and I'm really excited to hear what you think about it."

Considering his deep connection to the Deftones original, it's no surprise that the Anix's rendition is less an adventurous reimagining and more a reverent homage, though the cover does bring an emphatic electronic edge to the song. Check it out above and, below, watch Smith talk about "Digital Bath" and his take on it. Hologram is due out October 11th via FiXT; you can pre-order a copy here.
