Hear Ex–Type O Negative Members' Grungy, Sabbathian New Silvertomb Song

New single "Insomnia" out now before group join Life of Agony for fall tour

Former Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly and guitarist/vocalist Kenny Hickey have (re)joined forces in Silvertomb, the latest incarnation of their previous group Seventh Void, and dropped the new single "Insomnia." The group's lineup also includes such notables as Joseph James (Agnostic Front), Hank Hell (Inhuman) and Aaron Joos (Awaken the Shadow). Together, the seasoned music vets have created a swirling, hypnotic doom inspired by the greats like Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd but with a distinctly modern edge.

While "Insomnia" invokes the same kind of gloomy darkness that existed in Type O's music, Kelly insisted in an interview from last year that the two projects would have only superficial similarities. "Obviously, you have two guys from Type O Negative in the band. It's going to have resemblance," he explained, "It's still a more rock-oriented approach than the slow-paced, doomy aspect that Type O had."

The single comes ahead of the band's fall tour with Life of Agony — see the full itinerary below.
