Next month, industrial-metal vets Fear Factory will finally release their first album in six years, Aggression Continuum. We already heard the project's crushing lead single, "Disruptor," and now they're back with another epic called "Fuel Injected Suicide Machine" that's directly inspired by the 1979 cult-favorite flick, Mad Max.
Unfortunately, this record is being released during yet another tumultuous moment in the band's long history of internal drama and legal disputes. Although Aggression Continuum was recorded before his departure, OG frontman Burton C. Bell quit the band last fall, which has left Fear Factory in the hands of its last remaining co-founder, guitarist Dino Cazares, and without a lead singer. Cazares has previously reassured fans that the search for a new frontperson is well underway, but it's definitely created an awkward environment for promoting a new record.
Nevertheless, "Fuel Injected Suicide Machine" does feature Bell's unmistakable cleans and screams over the band's tractor combine-esque instrumentals. The song's title is a quote that Mad Max character Nightrider utters in the George Miller classic, and its dystopian atmospheres conjure the film's post-apocalyptic setting.
