Hear Fit for a King and Phinehas Members Cover Killswitch Engage's "My Curse"

Singer Ryan Kirby and guitarist Daniel Gailey launch new Patreon song cover service

Within the current generation of metalcore, Fit for a King and Phinehas are two of the genre's most exciting acts, building on the legacy of intensity and innovation built by their forebearers. Fit For a King singer Ryan Kirby and Phinehas guitarist Daniel Gailey are changing things up in the scene through Patreon, where both musicians will be collaborating on different cover songs and offering up stems, alternate versions and more to fans.

The duo's latest offering is a particularly burly rendition of Killswitch Engage's "My Curse," arguably the group's most popular tune, originally recorded back in 2006 for As Daylight Dies. The cover stays faithful to the original, Gailey nailing the guitar licks laid out by Adam D with expertise. Kirby's voice goes extra hard on the screamed vocals and he does a good job delivering Howard Jones' melodies with some extra gusto. It'll be interesting to see what other songs the twosome covers, and this could prove to be an exciting, unique way for the musicians to give fans new content.
