Hear In Flames' Crushing New Song "The Great Deceiver"

Continuing in the heavy trend of previous single "State of Slow Decay"

In Flames' raging June single, "State of Slow Decay," hinted at heavy things to come. As vocalist Anders Fridén commented at the time, the song "includes everything that In Flames are known for. But it's more than just a song, it's a fucking statement."

That statement continued today (August 1st) with "The Great Deceiver," an even more crushing ripper that leans further into the melodic death-metal sound with which the Swedish veterans first made their name. Blast it above via its grim lyric video.

"'The Great Deceiver' was born out of frustration — basically a reaction to false flags. But since then, it has grown to represent several meanings," the band commented in a joint statement. "There's a line that says 'Bend the truth to fit your opinion,' and we feel that speaks a lot to the narrative happening online, between people, and nations, etc., today. We are more apart now than ever before yet it's easier to communicate than in any other time in history."
