Hear Fotocrime Evoke Echo & the Bunnymen on New Dark-Wave Song

Ex-Coliseum, Young Widows members dive into gothic synth-pop depths on "Don't Pity the Young"

Influenced by goth, new romantic, synth pop, dark wave and more, the latest single from Louisville band Fotocrime's forthcoming debut album Principle of Pain is the surprisingly low key, yet dance-floor-ready "Don't Pity the Young." The new song is built around a haunting vocal melody that leaves ex-Coliseum frontman Ryan Patterson nowhere to hide — and the results are excellent.

Patterson's laid-back vocal delivery perfectly aligns with the pensive nature of the track and allows him to casually sit alongside the reverb-heavy guitars and pulsing synth, his low-end croon cooly adding to the darkness of the proceedings. Stream it above for the first time, and look for the Principle of Pain to hit on May 18th via Patterson's own Auxiliary Records imprint. In support of the release, Fotocrime will hit the road in May; see dates below.
