Four Stroke Baron are an impossible band to place on the vast spectrum of heavy-music subgenres. Although the Reno, Nevada, duo of Kirk Witt and Matt Vallarino drift between the eccentricities of prog and the danceable grooves of nu-metal, Witt's outlandish vocal delivery and their proclivity for dazzling synths makes it nearly impossible to name a similar-sounding act — and that's why they rule.
Later this fall, the band will release their third LP, Classics, via Prosthetic Records, and its sticky-as-fuck lead single "Friday Knight," which we're proud to be premiering above, could easily appeal to fans of pop music, avant-garde electronica and Meshuggah alike.
Mixed by the beloved prog wizard Devin Townsend, who also supplied additional sound design textures, the song dangles refracting keyboards, pitched-up harmonies and light falsettos over chuggy riffs that wouldn't sound out of place on a Deftones album. Atop all of that is Witt's smokey, new-wavey croon, which soars gracefully as it delivers an earwormy hook that could set a dance floor ablaze — an alien hybrid of Chino Moreno and the Cure's Robert Smith.

"This is the best thing we've ever done," the band proudly said of the album. "We are calling it right now that every song is a future classic. We told Devin Townsend to go as hard as possible when doing the sound design and adding textures, which upped the insanity factor 100 times."
