Spirit Adrift are an Arizona psychedelic doom outfit with some familiar faces in their ranks. While vocalist/guitarist Nate Garrett and bassist Chase Mason are best known for churning out searing death metal in Gatecreeper, the outfit is, for all intents and purposes, a new band. Founded in 2015, Spirit Adrift released their debut album, Chained to Oblivion, just last year. After dropping a split 7-inch with Khemmis via War Crime Recordings, Spirit Adrift have signed to 20 Buck Spin for their sophomore album, Curse of Conception, due out next month.

Today, Spirit Adrift have teamed up with Revolver to premiere "To Fly on Broken Wings," a gritty, molten-hot slab of hard rock inspired by Garrett's southern roots (the frontman once lived in Arkansas). Listen now, and pre-order Curse of Conception here.

"'To Fly on Broken Wings' is a tribute to all the folks who taught me some of the most valuable lessons I ever learned while I was cutting my teeth in Arkansas," Garrett says of the track. "A lot of bands from the South were profoundly inspirational to me, and on this song I wanted to pay respect to Deadbird in particular, hence the title." He adds that he wrote the track with two musical principles in mind: "make it really heavy, and use a 3/4 time signature."

Out October 6th, Curse of Conception was engineered and mixed by Sanford Parker (Yob, Pelican, Eyehategod), with cover art by Joe Petagno (Mötorhead, Autopsy, Magic Circle). To celebrate the LP's arrival, the band will host a pair of release shows on their home turf and elsewhere. The first of these gigs takes place October 7th at the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe, Arizona, with support from Atriarch, Take Over and Destroy and Divine Hammer. A week later, on October 14th, they'll travel to Denver to play a show at the Hi-Dive, joined by Khemmis and Abrams.
