Hear GHOST's new version of "Spillways" featuring DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott

Pour some Satan on me

Joe Elliott has joined the clergy. The Def Leppard singer has collaborated with Ghost on a new version of their Impera highlight "Spillways," and the glam-metal icon sounds great on the arena-ready occult-rock hit. Stream it above via YouTube.

Tobias Forge and Co. have previously worked with Dave Grohl (who produced and played on 2013's If You Have Ghost EP), so this isn't the band's first collab with a big-name rock star. And like the Grohl link-up, the Elliot guest spot grew out of fandom: Shortly after Impera came out in 2022, the Def Leppard vocalist told Metal Hammer that it was his "go-to album of the last couple weeks," and went on to praise Ghost's unique sound.

"I thought it was absolutely stunning," Elliott said of Impera. "It's like a whole new genre of music — it's way more Toto than death metal or any of that stuff. Like the song 'Spillways,' it starts off like 'Hold the Line' by Toto or 'Jane' by Jefferson Starship — one of those classic Seventies songs that begin on the piano before these big, chunky chords come in."

Yesterday, Ghost teased the collab by featuring Elliott in the "Chapter 15" episode of their ongoing video series. Check that out below.
