Ghost's upcoming covers EP, Phantomime, is right around the corner, and today (May 16th), Papa and the Ghouls unleashed the most metallic track on the release: a gloriously reverent rendition of Iron Maiden's 1980, Paul Di'Anno-helmed NWOBHM epic "Phantom of the Opera." The cover arrived accompanied by a sleek, eerie visualizer video featuring the Terminator-esque biomechanical satanic pope pictured in the EP's Hedi Xandt-created artwork.
In addition to the Maiden cover, Phantomime includes reimaginings of classic cuts by prog-rock pioneers Genesis (the previously released single "Jesus He Knows Me"), U.K. punks the Stranglers, Queen of Rock & Roll Tina Turner and art-rock savants Television.
Phantomime is due out May 19th via Loma Vista Recordings.
