Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta has released a new song inspired by the "Howard Stern Show," titled "Hit Em With the Hein (Remix)." The ripper, which clocks in at just over a minute long, derives its name from a long-running joke involving one of the radio show's biggest personalities, John Hein (also known as the guy who inspired the phrase "jumping the shark" in reference to the moment a TV show stops being cool). For those unfamiliar with the titular expression, allow us to provide a bit of backstory: Last year, "Stern Show" staffer Jason Kaplan came up with the phrase with the sole purpose of pissing Hein off. It worked and — to his colleague's dismay — quickly exploded into a full-blown meme, perpetuated by the likes of sports anchors, porn stars and, of course, listeners.
Jasta isn't the first musician to release a tune inspired by Kaplan's trolling. A YouTube search for "Hit Em with the Hein Song" returns over 5,600 results (although it's safe to say that none of them are quite this brutal). According to the song's Bandcamp description, Jasta (who mans his own radio program, "The Jasta Show," in his spare time) wanted to "metal things up" following the expression's rise in popularity.
