Hear Howard Jones Cut Loose on Charging New Light the Torch Song

Band formerly known as Devil You Know drops “Calm Before the Storm,” which is more storm than calm

Devil You Know — the metalcore outfit helmed by ex-Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones and featuring members of All Shall Perish, Bleeding Through and others — are no more ... sorta. Due to copyright issues that surfaced after the departure of their founding drummer John Sankey, the band are now known as Light the Torch. Their first album under that moniker (and third overall), Revival, is due out March 30th via Nuclear Blast and be can pre-ordered here

After sharing first single "Die Alone" at the top of the month, the group are back with the second offering from their They Bleed Red follow-up — a charging new ripper bearing the misleading name "Calm Before the Storm." Jones recommends pairing the track with good friends and a road trip, saying of it, "'Calm Before the Storm' is just a fun song."

The track's live-wire energy speaks to the group's cathartic experiences cutting the album. "2016 was a really tough year for us as a band, both personally and professionally," Jones recalls. "While going through some lineup changes, we were also battling some issues with the use of our band name. At the same time, I was trying to deal with the loss of my oldest brother, which really hit me hard. During that time, we just bonded like never before. We all meshed because we faced war together. We survived. At the end, we realized we were a real band and decided to make an album representing that resilience. Honestly, we came out of the dark. The name literally signifies what we went through."
