Chicago-based quintet Huntsmen have been described as "Americana metal" due to their unique fusion of story-telling folk and country tradition and crushing doomsaying riffage. That evolving genre-crossing sound can be heard on the group's two EPs and their debut full-length, 2018's American Scrap, but it has found its most complete incarnation yet on Huntsmen's forthcoming LP, Mandala of Fear, due March 13th via Prosthetic Records. The album represents a clear new chapter for the band, in part due to the sustained presence of vocalist Aimee Bueno, who first added her distinct textures to the group on the closing track of American Scrap but now stands as a full-time member of the group. She claims the stage centrally, too, in the performance video for new song "God Will Stop Trying," which Huntmen have teamed with Revolver to premiere right here, right now. The gorgeous clip was helmed by director Ryan Luciani and director of photography Anna Chiappett.
Bueno says of the song, "As someone who was raised religious, but now considers themself to be an atheist/humanist, 'God Will Stop Trying' is particularly meaningful to me. This track represents a part of our heroine's plight to which I can personally, and deeply identify."
She adds of the video, "We had a long day, but filming with Anna and Ryan was a joy, and we are privileged to have worked with them! We hope everyone enjoys this video as much as we did filming it!"
