Hear Ice Nine Kills Vocalist Rage on We're Wolves' Crushing "Pride"

Spencer Charnas anoints up-and-coming metalcore monsters on new banger

Last year, We're Wolves came onto our radar when we premiered their sleek cover of Avenged Sevenfold's razory fan-favorite, "Unholy Confessions." Back in October, the Florida group dropped their debut album, Evil Things, and today we're hosting the lyric video for one of its standout tracks, "Pride," which features an ideal guest appearance by Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas. On this one, We're Wolves are clearly drawing from the well of early 2000s metalcore — Killswitch Engage and As I Lay Dying are overt reference points — and dousing it with a modern twist. There're plenty of cutting leads that dance atop the chugging rhythms and at least one beastly breakdown, but Charnas' gripping clean vocals make the track a certified ear-worm. Take a listen above.

"This song is about pride getting the best of someone," says frontman AJ Diaferio. "Not being able to differentiate between what's good for the group versus his or herself. We wrote this song about an individual we became gridlocked with during the writing process and couldn't work past their ego. We have always wanted to feature our friend Spencer and this seemed like a great opportunity. This song fit his vocal style so seamlessly. We hope you love this song as much as we enjoyed creating it."
