Hear Ilsa's New Death-Doom Crusher "Long Lost Friend"

Baltimore band's latest fuzzed-out wrecking ball appears on forthcoming LP 'Corpse Fortress'

At first glance, the song title "Long Lost Friend" might leave you wondering if the Baltimore heavies have suddenly abandoned Celtic Frost riffs for Belle & Sebastian. The answer to that is most decidedly no, Ilsa's "doom & roll" approach is still intact and with all of the thundering hate that powered previous efforts like Intoxicantations and The Felon's Claw. It isn't more than a minute and a half into the track that you realize just who this friend is via a heavily echoed death bellow: "SAAAAAAATAAAAAN."

Don't change Ilsa.

"We've said before that all our songs are spells, and this invocation is no different," says drummer Joshy. "Play it for protection against loneliness and to summon old comrades."

Outside of throwing hails to the man in the big red suit, "Long Lost Friend" is a glacially paced, heavily fuzzed-out crusher, featuring melodic leads and near infinite playability. It's mean and relentless, much like the band's new LP Corpse Fortress, due via Relapse on March 2nd. Order yours now ahead of its March 2nd release date.
