Featuring genuine death-growls mixed in with the triumphant NWOBHM flavor Dickinson helped pioneer, the track is an absolutely fierce first taste of the singer's forthcoming album, The Mandrake Project, due out in 2024.

"It was important to set the tone of the project with this track," Dickinson previously stated about "Afterglow of Ragnarok."
"As befitting its title, it's a heavy song and there's a great big riff driving it… but there's also a real melody in the chorus that displays the light and shade that the rest of the album brings."
The Mandrake Project will mark Dickinson's first non-Maiden album since 2005's Tyranny of Souls. He's already confirmed that longtime guitarist-producer Roy Z has returned for this job. Stay tuned for more details.
