Hear Japanese Post-Hardcore Faves Envy's First New Songs in 3 Years

Beloved experimental crew return with 'Alnair in August' digital single and 7-inch

Envy are not only one of Japan's greatest exports, but also a fundamentally crucial band in the worlds of hardcore, post-hardcore and post-rock. After supporting Deafheaven in 2015, the group reportedly was left "deeply fractured," with several years of personal struggle and rebuilding to follow. Now with vocalist Tetsuya Fukagawa back in the fold along with new guitarists Yoshi and Yoshimitsu Taki and drummer Hiroki Watanabe, Envy are back in action and preparing for the 2019 release of a new LP. In anticipation, the band has dropped off a digital single called Alnair in August comprised of a pair of new tracks, "Dawn and Gaze" and "Marginalized Thread," which encompass the group's soaring, dynamic sound.
