Hear Jerry Cantrell's Glowing New Single "Siren Song"

Alice in Chains icon dips into balladry on latest taste of upcoming solo album

Next week, Jerry Cantrell will finally unveil Brighten, his first solo LP in nearly 20 years. Since announcing the record back in July, the Alice in Chains vocalist-guitarist gave fans a taste with the smoldering "Atone," featuring former Dillinger Escape Plan singer Greg Puciato and Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan, and the bluesy title-track, and now he's shared one final preview called "Siren Song."

Whereas the previous two tracks had enough fire under the hood to fit on basically any Alice in Chains record from the last 30 years, "Siren Song" is a much lighter, slower ballad that's mostly built upon crinkly acoustic guitar strums and weepy streaks of distorted riffage. Check it out above via YouTube.

Brighten marks Cantrell's third solo LP and his first since 2002's Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2. In addition to Puciato and McKagan, the album also features miscellaneous instrumentation from co-producer Tyler Bates, drumming from Gil Sharone (ex-Dillinger Escape Plan, Marilyn Manson) and many others. The track listing boasts eight original tunes and then closes with a cover of Elton John's "Goodbye," which got a ringing endorsement from the Rocket Man himself.
