Hear Kaelan Mikla Singer's Brooding New Coldwave Song With Drab Majesty Guitarist

Sólveig Matthildur, Deb Demure team up for "Dystopian Boy" which arrives with Lynchian performance video

Preparing to take the coldwave dance floor by storm, Kaelan Mikla's keyboardist and co-vocalist Sólveig Matthildur is now branching out on her own with the stunning chill of "Dystopian Boy," the debut track from her as-yet-untitled solo album set to drop sometime next year. Lynchian red backdrops and a rose-patterned wall stand stark as the singer swirls about, draped in knotted crimson rope while she laments with a detached longing that lends maturity to her raw talent. A husky voice that is at once timeless and spotlessly fresh, the track and performance evokes a melancholic ache verging on nostalgia for the uncertain sadness of youth.

Matthildur found inspiration for the track in a chance meeting, recalling, "I was inspired to make the track 'Dystopian Boy' when I was sitting at a bar with a guy one and a half years ago. He said 'I'm a dystopian guy, Sólveig,' and I thought it was very beautiful as I have always seen myself as a utopian girl." The match proved fruitful, as she continues, "We ended up giving each other a lot. He helped me understand so many things about myself and changed my view of life and love and find the beauty of the fact that everything has a beginning and an end. I asked my friend Andrew [a.k.a. Deb Demure of Drab Majesty] to contribute to the track because I felt like he could really make magic. I was right!"

Sólveig Matthildur's "Dystopian Boy" will be available for purchase November 16th through iTunes and her Bandcamp page.  A full-length album will be available via Artoffact Records in 2019, and until then, see below for upcoming Eurpean solo dates.
