Hear KANAAN's riff-worshiping new psych-rock jam "Orbit"

Norwegian trio get back to the primitive

Norway's marquee metallurgic export might be unholy black metal, but the country's Kanaan specialize in a very different sort of heavy. The Oslo trio draw on Japanese psychedelic rock, German krautrock and California desert rock for a jammy, head-nodding sound perfect for hitting the highway to nowhere in your Camaro.

Kanaan are gearing up to release their new album, Downpour, and today (March 9th) they've teamed with Revolver to premiere its second single "Orbit," a muscular, lysergic thrill ride spiked with jazzy squiggles and spiraling noise. Crank it above via YouTube.

"'Orbit' is a simple ode to the worshiping of the good riff, and the kind of primitive track we've wanted to do for a long time," Kanaan bassist Eskild Myrvoll tells us. "Towards the end, the song explodes in an all-amps-on-10 psychedelic assault, reminiscent of some of our most extreme live experiences!"

Downpour is due out on May 5th via Jansen Records and available for pre-order now.
