Hear King Woman Singer Go Power-Pop on Smoldering New Miserable Song "Gasoline"

Wistful track appears on Kristina Esfandiari's upcoming double-EP 'Loverboy / Dog Days'

When she's not causing a racket with Bay Area doomgazers King Woman, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Kristina Esfandiari makes nocturnal dream-pop as Miserable. Two years after the project's inaugural full-length, Uncontrollable, the singer has announced Loverboy / Dog Days, a new offering under that moniker that combines an all-new EP, Loverboy, with a remastered version of her ultra-rare Dog Days release, originally issued on cassette back in 2015. The collection hits shelves October 26th via Sargent House; pre-orders are live here. Additionally, Esfandiari has dropped off "Gasoline," the record's eerie power-pop opener.

Written during Esfandiari's brief residency in Brooklyn (she's since moved to L.A.), Loverboy finds the musician exploring past traumas by way of present loneliness. "I had chills running down my body for a couple of minutes," she recalls of the moment everything came together. "I wrote all of the lyrics out on napkins. I could hear how I wanted everything to sound." The EP's conception might have gone off without a hitch, but its recording process proved another story entirely: A freak accident destroyed the hard drives and back-ups of the songs' audio files, forcing Esfandiari to re-record everything from the top.

Esfandiari will soon hit the road with a live band — bassist Sarah Green, guitarist Juli Lydell and drummer Jess Lankford — for a tour ahead of Loverboy / Dog Days' release. Check out a full list of dates under the album artwork and track listing, below.
