Hear Kittie's Morgan Lander Rage on We Are PIGS' New Song "MOOT"

Esjay Jones' "nu-metal/trap hybrid" project drops latest single

Morgan Lander needs no introduction. As the lead singer of trailblazing all-female metal band Kittie, she's left her mark on heavy music, a legacy that's celebrated in the career-retrospective documentary Kittie: Origins/Evolutions, available for streaming now on Amazon Prime.

We Are PIGS could use a little intro. The self-described "nu-metal/trap hybrid" project is spearheaded by South African–born producer, songwriter and artist Esjay Jones. As a producer, she recently helmed five songs on the enhanced recordings of Chester Bennington's pre-Linkin Park band Grey Daze. As an artist, Jones debuted We Are PIGS in the summer of 2020 with a cover of Slipknot's "Duality," which was followed months later by the original single "Pulse Queen." Today (April 16th), she's teamed with Revolver to premiere "MOOT," a new original featuring none other than Lander on guest vocals. Check out the ferocious song, along with its glitchy music video, above.

"The concept of 'MOOT' was conceived during a very unsettled time in the States," Jones tells us. "Late one evening, I came across the Kittie: Origins/Evolutions film on Amazon. Five minutes into the documentary, I was enamored and empowered. I was deeply fueled by the band's brazen tenacity, willingness to take risks, continuous forward momentum in the face of adversarial forces and their ability to level the playing field in a super male-dominated genre within a male-dominated industry. Literally, as soon as the documentary ended, I sent an unsolicited e-mail to Morgan asking if she would consider collaborating on this We Are PIGS single. Making music with Morgan has been a bucket list experience — she is the real deal and I feel honored and privileged to have had this opportunity to create with a hero!"

Lander adds, "I am honored to have been asked to collaborate with Esjay on this incredible track 'MOOT.' She is a fiercely driven and talented woman and she elevates and uplifts those around her to shine in the same way that she does. I feel like women supporting women in the music industry is something that we always need more of, and the fact that she is a musician/writer/engineer and producer puts her in a class all by herself. 'MOOT' is unapologetic and angry, the voice of unbridled rage questioning everything in a very uncertain time. Lending my voice to be heard on this song is something I'm very proud of and hope that listeners enjoy it and fear it a bit, as much as I do."
