Hear Kontusion's Grisly Death-Metal Blitz "Unrelenting Pain"

Members of Ghostemane, Repulsion, Iron Reagan go OSDM

Kontusion are a new band comprised of guitarist-vocalist Mark Bronzino — an Iron Reagan member who played on Ghostemane's 2018 album N/O/I/S/E and subsequently toured with him — and drummer Chris Moore, who's done time in Repulsion, Magrudergrind, Coke Bust and many other extreme bands. Over the pandemic, the two friends did what many waylaid musicians did and started a brand new project in their free time, and Kontusion's self-titled debut EP (out March 25th) is the fruits of their efforts. Today, we're psyched to be premiering its latest single, "Unrelenting Pain," which you can listen to above while watching its grim music video.

The guys started the band with the goal of making balls-to-the-walls old-school death-metal, and "Unrelenting Pain" certainly exists within that milieu — but in a way that feels fresh, not cheaply regurgitated. The utterly hellish vocals sound like a smoldering wave of infernal fires splashing and spitting up against the cavernous abyss below, while the instrumentation blasts forward with a savage aggression, at one point snapping into a humongously chuggy mosh part. Shit rules.
