Lamb of God's Mark Morton has been "quietly" working on his solo album for a number of years, and now comes word that the record will finally see the light of day next year. The guitarist made it official yesterday (December 13th) with the premiere of the LP's lead single, "The Truth Is Dead," on Sirius-XM's Liquid Metal channel. The song, which has since received wide release and can be streamed above, features guest vocals from his LOG bandmate Randy Blythe as well as Arch Enemy singer Alissa White-Gluz. The full album, titled Anesthetic, is due March 1st (you can pre-order it here) and also includes vocal contributions from Chester Bennington, Jacoby Shaddix, Myles Kennedy, Mark Lanegan, Chuck Billy, Jake Oni, Josh Todd, Mark Morales and Naeemah Maddox. Musically, Morton performs all guitars, with Roy Mayorga, David Ellefson, Ray Luzier, Paulo Gregoletto and Alex Bent, Mike Inez, Jean-Paul Gaster, Steve Gorman and Marc Paul rounding out the band.
"This album wasn't a concerted effort to start something outside Lamb of God," Morton says of the LP. "Music is always in my head, and until I write and record it, it's stuck there. But once I record it, it's out. It's a catharsis, more for my own sanity."
As for the guitarist's main band, after releasing the cover album Legion: XX under their original moniker Burn the Priest, Lamb of God have revealed plans to enter the studio soon to lay down the follow-up to 2015's VII: Sturm und Drang.
