Hear Lamb of God Team With Megadeth for Crushing Cover of "Wake Up Dead"

Tour mates collab on remake of iconic 'Peace Sells' opener

Next week, Megadeth and Lamb of God will commence the second leg of their "Metal Tour of the Year," which actually began with a run of dates last summer alongside Trivium and Hatebreed, and will pick up this time with Trivium and In Flames. To celebrate the co-headlining pairing, Lamb of God have teamed with Megadeth for a snarling new version of the thrash OGs' "Wake Up Dead," the opening salvo for their 1986 LP, Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?"

Of course, with Lamb of God involved, the track sounds even heavier and darker than the classic recording. But Dave Mustaine and the other three members of Megadeth's current lineup showing up for an appearance maintains "Wake Up Dead"'s original flavor. It's a cool update and you can listen to it above via the cover's live, quarantine-style music video.

Dave Mustaine commented, "We had a blast playing with Lamb of God on their cover of 'Wake Up Dead'. Almost as much fun as we're going to have playing every night on Metal Tour Of The Year. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!"

LOG guitarist Mark Morton added, "'Wake Up Dead' was a massively important song for me as an aspiring young guitar player. It was one of the first songs that began my lifelong love of thrash metal and helped reinforce for me that, while solos may be fun, my allegiance is to the RIFF! So you can imagine what a thrill it's been for Lamb to cover this legendary song with Dave & the rest of the Megadeth guys. Truly an honor. We all had a lot of fun putting this together and I think you can hear that energy in the track. I hope everybody enjoys this one and we can't wait to see y'all on The Metal Tour of the Year."

The Metal Tour of the Year starts up again on April 9th in Las Vegas and you can peep the full list of dates here.
