Hear Marissa Nadler Team With Stephen Brodsky on Ethereal, Gloomy New Song

"For the Sun" is debut single from singer-songwriter and Cave In, Mutoid Man leader's collaborative album 'Droneflower'

Marissa Nadler's ethereally gorgeous voice gets a heavy dose of doom and gloom on her new collaborative project with Cave In and Mutoid Man leader Stephen Brodsky, a forthcoming album titled Droneflower who's lead single "For the Sun" sets the stage for something bleak and gorgeous to come.

With a low-end rumbling in place of percussion anchoring the sparsely delicate acoustic guitar plucks and whispery refrains of Nadler, the track is a repetitive ritual of simple lyrical content echoing throughout the track's dreamlike atmosphere. Weightlessly eerie on one end but droning and morose on the other, the song's duality is hypnotic and lush, rich with each artist's unique and hefty talent.

Recorded entirely in home studios when the two could get time to work together outside of their respective main projects, Droneflower is the product of Brodksy and Nadler meeting at Brooklyn venue Saint Vitus Bar after the latter's show there on her 'July' tour. They aimed to create something expansive that fell just outside the scope of their individual career trajectories, and out came the striking contrasts and languid fluidity as heard on "For the Sun."

Nadler and Brodksy will perform a handful of live dates in the Northeast following the April 26th release of Droneflower on Sacred Bones Records. Pre-order a copy here and catch them at one of the following dates.
