Hear Math Punks Microwaves Conjure Voivod-ian Complexity on New Song "Antibody"

Following in the long storied math-rock tradition of the city between the three rivers (see Don Caballero), Microwaves have been spreading their spastic fury out of their hometown of Pittsburgh for the last 18-plus years. The band, who released a split with noise-rock favorites Couch Slut last year, has released six albums during its existence thus far, each as head-scratchingly interesting as the last. Now comes LP No. 7, Via Weightlessness, due September 28th courtesy of Three One G, the record label founded by like-minded musical lunatic Justin Pearson (Dead Cross, the Locust, Retox, etc.).

Microwaves' latest single, "Antibody," is math-punk genius through and through, employing guitar and saxophone alongside vein-bulging screamed vocals to create a wild ride that demands repeat listening in order to grasp what's actually going on. It's not punk exactly but sounds like spazcore, it's not metal but sounds like an outtake from Dimension Hatross. Check out "Antibody" for the first time below and pre-order yours copy of Via Weightlessness from Three One G.
