Hear MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN take down "social mediots" on PUSCIFER's "The Algorithm"

Off the soundtrack to Sumerian Comics' 'American Psycho' series

Most of us have weirdly unhealthy relationships with our phones. You know this. We know this. And Puscifer sure as hell knows this, with the artful rock deconstructionists having just dropped a hauntingly bitter, social-media-satirizing anthem they call "The Algorithm."

The new song was delivered as part of the soundtrack for Sumerian Comics' American Psycho series, and fittingly, it kills. "The Algorithm" is all on-the-beat tension, but also boasts a sensuous, if sinesterly lithe bass melody. Doesn't hurt that Carina Round is spiraling harmonious background vocals into the digital ether, too.

Meanwhile, Maynard James Keenan is low-key seething at the prospect of a billion "doom scroll junkies" and "social mediots" chasing a dopamine high while habitually rabbit-holing into our life-placating apps. Kind of depressing, if you think about it too much, but you can hear Puscifer's salient flip-off to our new God, the algorithm, up above.

As previously reported, it's been a busy spring for Puscifer so far. The band recently wrapped their Sessanta tour with A Perfect Circle and Primus, which was likewise a chance to jam out all three bands' contributions to their joint E.P.P.P. release.
