Thrash icons unearth 1987 recording for upcoming 'Master of Puppets' reissue

Metallica have shared a never-before-heard live version of Master of Puppets almighty "Damage, Inc." Recorded during the band's January 25th, 1987 show at the Grugahalle in Essen, Germany, it's one of many, many rarities exclusive to the remastered deluxe box set and 3xCD versions of Metallica's upcoming Master of Puppets reissue, out November 10th via the band's website and select record stores. You can pre-order it here.

In addition to a book and album (remastered on both vinyl and CD), Metallica's mammoth Master of Puppets reissue features concert recordings from 1984-85 (including a live album on cassette), interviews, demos, rough mixes, a hardcover book containing photos and commentary, a DVD comprising live footage and interviews, two unreleased covers (of Diamond Head's "The Prince" and Fang's "The Money Will Roll Right In"), buttons and more.

The thrash pioneers have unearthed several rarities from the package ahead of its release; so far, they've shared a "Battery" performance video, a live version of "For Whom the Bell Tolls," a "Master of Puppets" demo and, most recently, a hard-to-find photo of late bassist Cliff Burton from 1986, accompanied by commentary famed rock photographer Ross Halfin, who took the storied snapshot.
