From the opening discordant notes of "Sacrifice of the Skin," you can tell that Mindfield is probably onto something, and by the time the divebombs and vein-bulging vocals take hold, it's undeniable. The latest single from the Florida-based hardcore/thrash outfit is positively nasty, leaning into hardcore bellows that lead the charge through riffs that land somewhere between At the Gates, Merauder and Integrity.
"'Sacrifice of the Skin' has to deal with all of us who struggle with mental health/suicidal thoughts, one of the main lyrical themes for this band," vocalist Nick Troupe says. "September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The sad reality is we've all lost people to suicide, and mental health needs to be talked about more. Check on your friends [and] loved ones and tell them that you love them."
Blast "Sacrifice of the Skin" — which is culled from Mindfield's forthcoming self-titled EP, available for preorder now — and catch the band on tour at the dates below.
