Morbid Angel have announced a new album. Kingdoms Disdained, the follow-up to 2011's Illud Divinum Insanus, will be released on December 1st via UDR Music. The death-metal veterans, led by founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth, cut the record at Mana Recording in St. Petersburg, Florida, with their former guitarist-turned-producer Erik Rutan. To mark their big announcement, Morbid Angel have unleashed "Piles of Little Arms," a no-frills ripper which gestures to the primordial muck of their early recordings. It's sure to prompt plenty of headbanging, as well as a few sighs of relief from the scores of fans who found Illud Divinum Insanus' controversial, industrial-spiked pallette a disappointment. Morbid Angel have undergone several lineup changes over the six-year timespan separating Illud Divinum Insanus from Kingdoms Disdained. Bassist/vocalist Steve Tucker has returned (his first on-record appearance since 2003's Heretic) after David Vincent's departure, and the album also marks the official debut of two new Morbid Angel enlistees: drummer Scott Fuller (Annihilated, ex-Abysmal Dawn), who came aboard after Tim Yeung left in 2015, and secondary guitarist Dam Vadim Von, who stepped in after Thors Anders Myhren (aka Destructhor) left the same year.
"Piles of Little Arms" isn't the only new song Morbid Angel have revealed as of late. At a concert in Orlando earlier this year, the legends rolled out "Warped," a thunderous cut also set to appear for the new album. Check out live footage below.
