In the wake of tragic killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and too many others, as well as the recent shooting of Jacob Blake, nearly 50 metal, hardcore, punk and noise acts — from Sunn 0))) and Xibalba to Misery Signals and Modern Life Is War — have come together for Shut It Down, a new digital compilation to raise funds for the organization The Movement for Black Lives. The hard-hitting collection boasts mostly exclusive material, including previously unreleased music from Thou (who cover Bad Religion's "Kerosene"), Primitive Man, Racetraitor and Amygdala, and the first new song from Arkansas sludge crew Rwake in nine years (the punishing "Infinince"). Also notable, most of the bands on Shut It Down feature members who are people of color, with 17 of the groups featuring black members or all black lineups — from NYHC veterans Burn to younger acts such as Jesus Piece and Minority Threat. Revolver is proud to offer the world premiere of the collection right here right now — stream the comp below via Bandcamp.

All proceeds from Shut It Down — priced at a mere $10 for 46 songs — will go to The Movement for Black Lives, which strives to end the criminalization and dehumanization of black people in the United States. "Like so many others, I felt a rage at seeing the video of George Floyd's death," says Racetraitor singer Mani Mostofi, who organized Shut It Down. "But when Minneapolis rose up, I knew we entered one of those historical movements that require all of us to do whatever we could to fight racist policing and defend black lives. This compilation is just one small contribution to that struggle. Nearly everyone my friends and I contacted wanted to participate in the comp, so we ended up with so many more amazing bands taking part than we anticipated. We also had engineers donating mixing and master, illustrators donating artwork, and a publicist donating PR. It was a community effort all around."
