Hear Night Sins' Gothy New Post-Punk Burner "Kill Like I Do"

Nothing drummer Kyle Kimball channels Sister of Mercy in solo project

While most people know Kyle Kimball as the pounding force behind the kit of Nothing, providing rhythmic heft to the band's dreary, pretty shoegaze suites, he's also a formidable singer-songwriter in his own right. For over a decade, Kimball has been releasing gothy, darkwavey post-punk under the name Night Sins, channeling bands like Sisters of Mercy and Nitzer Ebb into an enveloping elixir of drab 1980s styles with a modern twist. On June 10th, he'll release his latest full-length, Violet Age, via Born Losers Records, and today we're stoked to be premiering its latest single, "Kill Like I Do."

Some of Kimball's other Night Sins material falls closer in the electro-heavy lane of industrial or EBM, but "Kill Like I Do" is more of a rock song, with huge riffs that swirl around his breathy vocals, a motorik beat that never lets up and a catchy-as-hell little synth melody that echoes the chorus with a charming eeriness. Listen while you watch its video above via YouTube.

"'Kill Like I Do' is a metaphor for having zero self control," Kimball says of the song's subject matter. "It's about not being able to stop until you've hit the floor."

Violet Age is out June 10th and you can pre-order the album here.
