Hear Night Verses' Stunning New Post-Metal Song "Phoenix IV: Levitation"

Forthcoming 'From the Gallery of Sleep' LP is band's first since going instrumental

Night Verses' new song "Phoenix IV: Levitation" is a stunning, nine-and-a-half-minute marvel that upholds the band's career-long tradition of dedicating a track to the legendary bird on each album. But the phoenix, with its rise from the ashes, is particularly fitting this time: The song is the lead single from Night Verses' forthcoming new album, From the Gallery of Sleep, which will be California post-rock group's first full-length since parting ways with vocalist Douglas Robinson last fall. So "Phoenix IV: Levitation" very much marks a rebirth for the band, into a kickass instrumental trio.

"Even though it's a pretty on-the-nose analogy, we always use the 'Phoenix' songs on each album as an attempt to raise the bar for ourselves musically," drummer Aric Improta (also of the Fever 333) says of the track. "We usually try and include all of our favorite ideas and most challenging passages in that one song. It also acts a personal time capsule, reminding us of what our peak level of musicality was during that cycle."

From the Gallery of Sleep is due for release June 29th via Equal Vision. The 13-track effort marks the follow-up to 2016's Into the Vanishing Light, and is available for preorder here.
