NYC industrial sludge-rock outfit Uniform recently announced The Long Walk, their third full-length and first release with newly recruited drummer Greg Fox (also of Liturgy and Zs). After sharing a violent video for eerie first single "The Walk," the trio has unveiled "Alone in the Dark," another foreboding number featured on the forthcoming LP, due August 17th on Sacred Bones Records. Whereas "The Walk" paid tribute to horror master Stephen King, the new cut represents Uniform's musical monument to Jack Sholder's 1982 slasher film of the same name.
"In the film, Jack Palance, Martin Landau and Donald Pleasance star as a gaggle of mental patients who escape an asylum during a power outage and proceed to hunt down their psychiatrist," explains Uniform vocalist Michael Berdan. "In our song, I'm referencing my personal feelings of isolation that come in the middle of the night, when I'm left with only the sensation of college level existential terror and prayers to a God who may or may not be listening, if [they're] even there at all."
Uniform have expanded their North American tour in support of The Long Walk to include a slew of collaborative shows with experimental metal/noise band the Body, who teamed up with them for the collaborative album Mental Wounds Not Healing earlier this year. They've also announced a hometown record release show with labelmates Thou at Brooklyn's Market Hotel. Catch them on the road with Deafheaven and Drab Majesty now, and find a full list of dates here.
