In our recent interview with Backtrack James Vitalok, the vocalist described the advantages of taking time off from the group succinctly and perfectly: "From a lyrical standpoint, not being in the band and drawing from other life experience made for a better record – having thoughts and feelings outside of the van," he said.

The NYHC (by way of Long Island) outfit took three years away from the studio before kicking out its new effort, Bad to My World, which is due on November 17th via Bridge 9 Records and muscles through 10 positively searing tracks of relentless vitriol and masked melody. The Cro-Magnon breakdowns set to service the pit team are insidious enough on their own, but listeners will still find themselves quietly humming the subtly catchy tunes later on. Backtrack's latest offering is a shining example that stepping back and taking a deep breath can be very good for your band.
