Hear Parkway Drive's First New Song in 4 Years "Glitch"

Tackling the theme of night terrors and sleep paralysis

Rumors of Parkway Drive's demise have been greatly exaggerated. In April, the Aussie metalcore titans canceled their U.S. tour dates with a somewhat cryptic statement posted to social media citing "the toll" the band's career was taking "on ourselves and our friendships." "We feel the limit has been reached," the statement continued, "and we don't want to fuck this up." Some fans took this as an indication that Parkway were calling it quits. But then came a May clarification in which the band promised: "We are here to stay."

True to their word, today (June 7th), Parkway unleashed their first new material since 2018's Reverence album: the catchy and crushing single "Glitch," which addresses head-on the topic of night terrors and sleep paralysis. Blast it above via its horror-inflected music video.

"Parkway Drive have always walked the line of balancing the light and the dark, and 'Glitch' is no exception," the band commented in a joint statement. "Sonically, we aimed to create a dark, heavy, and unnerving journey while still crafting a melody that burrows its way into your mind. Lyrically, the song deals with the phenomenon of night terrors and sleep paralysis. We all know the power our minds possess, but true terror manifests when your mind and all its fears takes physical control of your body. The glitch in your brain, where nightmares and reality cross."
