In just a few weeks, Parkway Drive will unveil their new album Darker Still in all its glory. Going by the singles we've heard thus far, all signs are pointing toward a pretty experimental pivot from Australia's former metalcore mavens. While previous singles "Glitch" and "The Greatest Fear" are face-stompingly heavy, they sound bigger and more rock-influenced, and the title-track, premiering today (August 23rd), is a straight-up ballad with a classical riff that brings to mind Metallica's "Fade to Black."

At nearly seven minutes, there's plenty of time for it to pick up from an acoustic whisper to an epic power ballad replete with shreddy riffs, choir-like harmonies and pained screams from frontman Winston McCall. It's unlike anything they've ever done, and you can listen above via YouTube.

Darker Still is due out September 9th via Epitaph Records and is now available for for pre-order in a variety of formats. One of those is a Revolver-exclusive vinyl variant on "opaque yellow and black" colored wax, limited to 500 copies worldwide. Get yours while they last!
