Scour are a new heavy-metal supergroup comprising Phil Anselmo (Pantera/Down/Superjoint/a bajillion other side projects), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Animosity, Decrepit Birth) and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index). Formed in 2015, the group specializes in a crushing merger of groove metal, grindcore and black metal that unites its members' varying approaches to noise-making under one, ferocious, blood-spattered banner.
Following last year's debut EP Gray, Scour are gearing up to release their second extended player, Red, on November 3rd via Anselmo's Housecore records. The robust six-track release, which the band cut at Nodferatu's Lair with producer Steve Berrigan (Down, Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, Eyehategod, Haarp, Classhole, etc.), finds the band infusing their Southern-fried black metal worship – particularly on their new song "Piles," which we're premiering today. Engemann singled out the ripper as a personal favorite of the five-piece, which "comes in hot with blistering melodies, wrapped around some serious vocal brutality." The man's not lying.
