Hear Prophets of Rage Burn Bright on New Song "Heart Afire"

Rap-metal supergroup drops first single since 2017 self-titled full-length

The supergroup Prophets of Rage — featuring the combined talents of Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk as well as Chuck D and DJ Lord from Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill — brought politically charged heavy rock back to the forefront when they dropped last year's self-titled album.

And it doesn't look like they're slowing down — as you can hear from their just-released new single "Heart Afire." The song reveals that the group has gotten fully comfortable in their collective identity: furthering Prophets of Rage's own personality over references to their former bands. Under the rhymes of B-Real, Morello grooves on a funky guitar riff, grinding to a distorted chorus that busts out quick flourishes, propelling the music forward.

Earlier this week, Commerford spoke to Kaaos TV about the future of the band. "We made a record, and it was an imprint in time, and we did that, and we're on to another record now; we've already finished a 13-song record that we are just in the process of just putting together at this moment in time. So there's a lot going on."
