Hear REACH NYC's new song inspired by "internal fight" after CHESTER BENNINGTON's death

Frontman René Mata was a close friend of the Linkin Park singer

Reach NYC — an alt-metal outfit born out of the New York City hardcore scene — are currently recording their star-studded second album, Ride or Die, featuring appearances by Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix, Cypress Hill's Sendog, P.O.D.'s Sonny Sandoval and Marcos Muriel, and others.

Today (April 21st), they've teamed with Revolver to premiere the emotionally charged new single "Killing Time," which was inspired by the tough times that frontman René Mata had to fight through following the death of his longtime friend Chester Bennington of Linkin Park. Stream it via it's M.M. Stallings-directed music video above.

"The song is about my internal fight with myself after after losing a close friend," Mata commented of "Killing Time," which features guest guitar work from Muriel. "I had relapsed after 25 years of sobriety and had fallen into a massive depression after Chester passed away. The video is the chaos in my subconscious in relapse and depression. A full-on war in my heart, head and soul. Without recovery, family and friends, I wouldn't have made it out alive. I know the band conveyed it in their playing and recording of the song."

"Killing Time" was produced by Cass Dillon (Grey Daze, Morgan Saint, Goo Goo Dolls) and mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Papa Roach, Evanescence, Bush). Ride or Die — the long-awaited follow-up to 2003's self-titled LP — is due out later this year via AFM Records.
